Summer Days and Watercoloring

Today’s card features the Host set Summer Days. The sentiment comes from another Host set: Touched My Heart. Both of these stamp sets can be found on page 187 in our 2020- 2021 Annual Catalog.

When I saw this set, I knew I wanted to incorporate water coloring. Let me walk you through the steps:

~ I first cut a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (page 153 of the 2020- 2021 catalog) @ 3” x 5” then stamped my images using StazOn ink. It is important to use StazOn…you don’t want your image to blur.

~ I used an Aqua Painter to add color to my images. There are a variety of ways to pick up the ink. My preferred method is to lightly tap a block on my ink pad and pick up my color from that. I love our new In-Colors. The Cinnamon Cider looks fabulous on the tree and Just Jade looks perfect for the tree top. ***Aqua Painters have since retired, but our newest products are the Water Painters. For $12.00, you get one fine tip, one medium tip and 1 large flat brush tip. I will be adding these to my next order!***

~ For the little girl and butterflies, I used a combination of blends and markers, depending on what color I wanted to use.

~ I adhered this stamped on layer to a piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock cut @ 3-1/8” x 5-1/8”. Wrap some twine at the base to help ground your image.

~ Cut a piece of Bumble Bee cardstock @ 5-5/8” x 4-1/8”. I added some texture to this piece using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Adhere this to a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” and score at 4-1/4”. This will be your card base.

~ Adhere your other stamped on images to the card base. Add some bling and your sentiment and you are done!! (I love punches and my “go to” punch is the Timeless Label). I think the Magenta Madness ink brightens the whole card up.

I really like how this card turned out. If you are in the United States and interested in any of these products, please visit my on-line store or leave me a message. I do send a complimentary catalog (if requested) with orders over $25.00 and a handmade Thank You card. For orders over $50.00, I also add a small gift.

Have a fabulous day. As always, Happy Crafting!! Colleen

Colleen Light Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and DIY Crafter I love all paper crafting and I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! Independent demonstrator since 2018. Not only do I love the Stampin’ Up products but I am also working towards my quilling accreditation through the Quilling Guild. You will see some of those cards pop up every now and then. I started this latest paper crafting hobby of mine following an accident. I use it as my own form of occupational therapy (we nurses can get creative with our therapies.. haha). What I found was a great admiration for my fellow creative demonstrators and a great sense of community. I especially enjoy sending out my hand-crafted cards. It makes me happy when people tell me they save the cards!! If you are in the United States, I would love to be your demonstrator or have you as a member of my team. Check out the details of becoming a demonstrator at my on-line store (the discounts are definitely helpful). Feel free to drop me a comment! I look forward to working with you.
