Celebrating a Birthday With a Sunflower Card!

This week I have been working with the Stampin’ Up! Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. Fun fact about me: I love sunflowers. I grow them in my garden every year and I have sunflower decor in my craft room. One of my daughters always refers to them as “happy flowers”.

This is not only an easy layout, but it is also a great card to experiment with different color combinations. For today’s card, I am sticking with the more traditional black and yellow. If you happen to have any of the two-tone cardstock, you can use a bit of sandpaper or a sanding block to bring out the white center.

Here are the measurements:

• Daffodil Delight cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Score at 4 1/4″. Cut another piece at 3 3/4″ x 5″
• Basic Black cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″
• Basic White cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

How to create this card:

• Start by folding your card base in half.
• Emboss the Daffodil Delight cardstock using the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. Once this is completed, adhere to the Basic Black cardstock using liquid glue.
Adhere these layers to your card base.
• Stamp your sentiment using VersaMark and The Right Words stamp set. Heat emboss using black embossing powder. If you don’t have this, any color ink should match. Die cut your sentiment using the Stylish Shapes Dies. I did die cut an extra piece of Daffodil Delight to create a background layer for my sentiment.
• I secured a bit of black twine to my sentiment, then popped on some dimensionals and placed my sentiment on my card front. I added some of those fabulous Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments to give the card front a bit of sparkle.
