Throwback Thursday—Little Ladybug Gate Fold Card

The moment I saw the Flowers For Every Season designer series paper, I knew I had to pair it with the Little Ladybug stamp set. This card comes together so quickly and is just delightful! I know this set is retired, but I think the Zany Zebras set on page 104 of the current catalog would be just as cute! Just think of the fun designer series paper you could use for that–I’m thinking animal or jungle prints.

Card recipe:

Cutting using Paper Trimmer:

~ Cut a piece of Basic Black card stock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score each end at 2-1/8″. Fold those panels towards the center. This becomes your gate fold.

~ Cut another piece of Basic Black card stock at 1″ x 10″. This is for the band that goes around your card. Cut another piece for your tag at 2-7/8″ x 1-1/8″.

~ Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 2-3/4″ x 1″

~ Cut two pieces of the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper at 2″ x 5-3/8″. Adhere these to the front panels of your card.

Stamping:

~ Stamp the Ladybug of your choice using Stazon ink on a piece of Whisper White. You will be using a circle die or punch, so leave enough of a border around your image. I colored the Ladybug using different colors of blends: Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and Petal Pink. I used the Basic Black marker to fill in part of the body.

~ Stamp your sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Die cutting:

~ Cut two (one in Basic Black and one in Bumblebee card stock) using the Painted Labels Dies . I love the swirly look to these!

~ Using your Layering Circle Dies, cut out your ladybug. These dies have been one of my best purchases and can be found on page 181 of the current catalog. If you are a punch person, use the appropriate one.

Putting your card together:

~ Tightly wrap your band around the card, overlap and glue the ends (may need to trim). This needs to be snug so your card lays flat.

~ Adhere your circles together. You will notice I offset the Bumblebee and Basic Black. Next, attach the Ladybug image using multi purpose glue. Glue this assembled piece over the seam on band.

~ When you adhere your tag, only glue it to the left side. I can not tell you how many cards I have ruined by getting carried away with the glue—hahaha.

~ Add some bling and this card is done!!

I hope your enjoyed today’s card. If you are in the USA, I would love to be your demonstrator!
