Scrappy Starburst Card using Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper

Do you ever wonder what to do with all of your Designer Series Paper? You know, the odds and ends we generally have left over? This Scrappy Starburst card is perfect for a quick and easy card using your leftover supplies. For this card, I used the Peaceful Poppies DSP (recently retired). Let me explain how easily this card came together.

~ Start by cutting your card base at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”. Score at 4-1/4”. I used Thick Whisper White card stock.

~ Next, cut a piece of the regular Whisper White card stock at 4” x 5-1/4”.

~ Cut 3 pieces of your Designer DSP at 5” x 2”. If you have a pattern that needs to be placed in a particular design, you may need a few extra pieces to get that lined up properly. You will also need a couple of small scrap pieces for the bottom corners.

~ Place the DSP (on an angle) on your paper trimmer to cut into triangles.

~ Start placing these pieces on the Whisper White card stock (start with the two middle pieces), leaving a small gap between the triangles. Once you have your design figured out, start gluing these papers down. I tell you, I don’t think I can ever get things straight, so I am happy this is a forgiving pattern!

~ Now to trim off the excess!

~ Ta-Da! Everything is in place and trimmed. I wrapped some twine around this layer and then glued to the thick Whisper White card base.

~ Add a sentiment and some bling and this card is done! As an afterthought, I added some Wink of Stella to the berries for some extra sparkle.

*** You will note that this is a bit of a different design than the above photo. That’s what happens when you forget to take photos as you go along***

Painted Poppies Sympathy Card

Hello! Today’s card is a sympathy card using the Painted Poppies stamp set. I just love this stamp set and I am so happy it carried over from our mini catalog. You can find it in our newest catalog (2020- 2021) on page 18. This stamp set coordinates with the Painted Labels dies on page 177.

Card Recipe:

~ Cut card stock at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” then score at 4-1/4”. I used Cajun Craze for my base. While you have the Cajun Craze out, cut 3 squares at 1-9/16” x 1-9/16”. (Connie Stewart at Simply Simple Stamping has an excellent tutorial on how to read a ruler).

~ Cut Whisper White card stock at 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”. I ran this piece through my die cutting machine using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder.

~ Cut a strip of Old Olive card stock at 1” x 4-1/8”. I had some old ribbon that I ran across the front and adhered to the back of this.

~ Using your Layering Circles dies, cut a piece of Whisper White and Poppy Parade. If you do not have the dies, use the appropriate sized punch for your card.

~ Run the Whisper White 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece through your die cutting machine using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. You could skip this step, although I do like a bit of texture to my cards.

~ Now to stamp! I stamped my images in Poppy Parade. I love that speckled pattern using the Old Olive at the base of the flowers and over the sentiment. I colored in the stems and leaf using Old Olive ink and the flowers using the Dark and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. I think these colors gave this card a nice, soft look.

~ Adhere everything together. Pop the flower images and sentiment up on dimensionals and add some bling.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. If you are in the United States and would like to place an order, please visit my on-line store. I do send a complimentary catalog (if requested) with orders over $25.00 and a handmade Thank-You card. For orders over $50.00, I also add a small gift.

Peaceful Poppies Desktop Caddy/ Craft Organizer

How cute is this little organizer?! This caddy comes together remarkably quick and would make a great project for a paper crafting class or to give as a gift. I love the bright colors of the Poppies, although I had to try one using the Mosaic Mood DSP (scroll down)—I just love that Calypso Coral color. This caddy is the perfect size to hold your most used Stampin’ Up tools.

Now for the project recipe:

Larger main box:

~ Cut card stock @ 8-1/4” x 6-1/2”. On the short side, score at 1” x 5-1/2”. On the long side, score at 4-1/4” x 5-1/4”. Burnish those score lines for a nice, crisp edge. Cut the little squares into tabs. Don’t forget to give a little angle to those tabs for easy, clean folding.

~ Cut your Designer Series Paper for the inside of the box at 4-3/8” x 4”. Cut two more pieces at 3” x 3/4”. These will be glued to the outside of your box. Now is a good time to adhere the larger piece of DSP to the inside top portion of your box.

~ Place Tear & Tape Adhesive (this gives a strong hold), to the inside of the tab and lower fold. Fold up, adhering the tab first, then the outside piece to form your pocket.

Multi-purpose Glue Pocket:

~ Cut card stock at 6” x 3-1/4”. Score short side at 1” x 2-1/4” and long side at 3” x 4”.

~ Cut DSP (for the front) at 1” x 1-3/4” and two pieces at 1-3/4” x 3/4” (for the sides).

~ Follow same instructions as the large box for completing this section.

Glue Dots/ General Purpose Pocket:

~ Cut DSP at 6” x 5”. Score short side at 1” and 4” and long side at 3” x 4”.

~ Cut DSP at 2-3/4” x 1-3/4” (for the front) and two pieces at 1-3/4” x 3/4” (for the sides).

~ Follow same steps at large box for completing this section.

Now to put together:

All three of the completed boxes

~ Using Tear & Tape, adhere the two smaller boxes together at the center and then adhere to the larger box. Again, that Tear & Tape has great holding power! Glue your DSP to the front of the boxes and then the sides. I wrapped a ribbon around the boxes and added a sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project! If you don’t have the Simply Scored tool, you may want to consider purchasing it. I always get such nice, crisp scoring lines.
