Flowering Cactus Medley and Blending Brushes

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post! I love the Flowering Cactus Medley. The Designer Series Paper is stunning. I decided to try my hand with the new blending brushes. This was only my second attempt. Definitely a learning curve for me, but those brushes are amazing!

Let’s make this card:

Cutting:

Pear Pizzazz cardstock at 4-1/4″ x 11″. Score @ 5-1/2″ This is your card base

Whisper White (or Basic White) cardstock @ 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″. Cut two. One is for the inside of your card

Crumb Cake cardstock @ 4-1/8″ x 5/8″.

Die-Cutting:

Using the beautiful DSP, diet cut out the large cactus and the double flower. Next, grab the cactus die and cut 2. Lastly, use the long, rectangle die and your Crumb Cake cardstock to make your ground cover.

Blending and Stamping:

The colors I chose to use for my background are: Daffodil Delight, Misty Moonlight and Calypso Coral. I’m wondering if a touch of Cajun Craze wouldn’t add a hint of richness. What do you think? Blend your colors on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Start with your lightest color and add color as you like. As I said, I’m a bit new to this technique.

Next, stamp your sentiment on the cardstock.

Let’s put this card together:

Place your cacti as you like. I adhered in place using the multi-purpose glue. Then, glue your ground cover in place. I used two of the die-cut felt flowers on top of the taller cacti. Those look so cute!!

Add some bling and twine and this card is done!
