Life Is Beautiful and Vellum

Today’s card features the Life Is Beautiful stamp set. This is a simple stamp set that lends itself to beautiful images. I wanted to try stamping on vellum and love how this turned out.

Some things I learned by while stamping on vellum:

1- It bends easily, so be careful moving it around

2- It can take multiple times of stamping, so use your Stamparatus

3- Give your ink some time to dry. It takes a few minutes, so stamp first and cut that card stock later

Let’s get started:

Stamp your image on vellum using the Stamparatus. I stamped the tree trunk in Cinnamon Cider and the the leaves in Bumblebee. Using my Stampin’ Write markers, I added a touch of Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze to those leaves. Stamp the birdhouse using Stazon ink and use your Real Red marker for the birds.

While your image is drying, let’s get the rest going:

~ Cut Bumblebee card stock at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″. This is your base layer.

~ Cut Cinnamon Cider card stock at 5-1/4″ X 4″. Using the Woodland Embossing Folder, run this through your die cutting machine. I think this really adds the perfect extra touch.

~ My image is wrong side up in the photo. Maybe my signature style will be to post at least one wrong image in every post?? Hahaha

You will need to adhere your vellum image to the Whisper White card stock. You don’t want any of that glue to show. There are two ways to go about this: use the Adhesive Sheets (mine have not been delivered yet) or use your multi-purpose liquid glue, a sponge and a Silicone Craft Sheet. I left my Silicone Craft Sheet in Arizona, so a baggie it is! Lightly sponge your glue to the back side of the vellum being careful to smooth it out. Adhere it to the Whisper White card stock. It will be sticky!

Now, put all of your pieces together. I used a bit of ribbon and some bling to dress this card up. As an afterthought, I added some die cut leaves from the Stitched Seasons dies. There are some fabulous current Fall stamp sets/dies available in both the annual and mini catalogs. Personally, I really like the Gather Together Bundle.
