Celebrate Sunflowers Card—Throwback Thursday

****I love this stamp set!! This is the first card I made with this set and it made the perfect “just for” card. On another note, this was the first card I made for my very first in-person class and it was a big hit! I miss teaching classes and I am hoping to be back at it soon. The Celebrate Sunflowers is still available to order. Let me know how I can assist you…Colleen

Today’s card is all about the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set. I love sunflowers (I remember that one of my girls called them “happy flowers). This set comes in a suite, bundle or you can order the stamp set on it’s own. It was fun to play around with the design and, you can see, there is very little stamping on this card.

What do you think of this year’s In-Colors? I really like how the Cinnamon Cider looks against the Bumble Bee.

This is a very versatile card layout that can be used with many stamp sets. It’s always fun to try new things, isn’t it?

Card recipe:

~ Cut your card base from a piece of Just Jade cardstock @ 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”. Score at 4-1/4”. While you have the Just Jade out, cut another piece @ 4” x 2”

~ Cut 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock @ 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”. One of these pieces is the inside layer of your card to write your note on.

~ Using the Flowers For Every season DSP, cut one layer of the Sunflower pattern @ 3-7/8” x 1-7/8”. Cut another piece of DSP (pattern of your choice) for the strip that will go behind your sunflower. This measures @ 4-1/8” x 1”.

~ Using the Sunflower Dies, die cut one of the larger sunflower dies—one solid and one of the one with pattern. I chose the Cinnamon Cider and Bumble Bee cardstock colors. I also used Old Olive to die cut my leaves. There are a couple of different leaf dies to choose from…pick the one that best matches your card.

~ Now to put this card together. Lightly glue your Sunflower pieces together. I strategically placed small dots of Tombow glue (using a toothpick) to the center of the patterned, sunflower piece. You’ll notice mine is a bit off-center. Glue your Flowers For Every Season DSP to the Just Jade (the 4”x 2” piece). Line everything up on on your Whisper White cardstock and glue in place. I placed my leaves last. Place on top of your Just Jade card base.

~ Using Cajun Craze, I die cut the piece for the center of the flower and glued in place. I added a touch of Wink of Stella and added 3 of the Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

~ Stamp your sentiment. I wanted a small “hello” for someone special. If you are after a larger or longer sentiment, stamp that first and then line all of the other elements of card up.

~ Don’t forget to dress up your envelope by adding a stamp or sentiment.
