In The Pines Bundle and Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder

I love embossing folders! I think they are often overlooked but add so much to cards. Although I live in the desert now, I have spent most of my life wandering the woods in a small, rural community. I love the sound of the east wind through the trees and the first snow of the year. That said, there is something to be said about the warmth of our Southern states (insert smiley face).

Card Recipe:

Cutting:

Real Red cardstock @ 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score @ 4-1/4″. This is your card base.

Shaded Spruce @ 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″. This is your second layer.

Embossing:

With your die cutting machine, emboss the Shaded Spruce cardstock using the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. Although I made a Christmas card, this folder can be used in a variety of ways–check out the catalog (or Pinterest!) for more ideas.

Die Cutting:

Grab your Pine Woods Dies. I used our gorgeous foil papers–Silver and Gold–for the trees and Whisper White or Shimmery White cardstock for the snowdrifts. I made a number of these cards, so I enlisted my husband’s help with the die cutting!! Perfect activity (well, at least for me) on a rainy afternoon.

***Those trees would have been easier to adhere had I remembered to bring my adhesive sheets with me! Instead, I used a touch of multi-purpose glue and a toothpick. I recommend the adhesive sheets.

Stamping:

Stamp your sentiment on one layer of the snow drifts. My goal this year is to use ONE bundle and embossing folder for each card I make. In the past, I have gravitated to using a little of this and a little of that.

Put your card together:

I did pop that bottom snowdrift up on dimensionals–which looks fabulous. In retrospect, for ease in mailing, I think I would have just glued it flat. Once in place, wrap some ribbon around the two drifts, adhere everything together and add some bling.

I hope your enjoyed today’s card. These items can be found in the August-December 2020 mini catalog.
