Painted Poppies

Today’s card features the Painted Poppies stamp set. I’ve made this card before, but, this time I wanted to try it with the Poppy Parade colors. I absolutely love vibrant colors and this one fits the bill!

To start, let’s cut some card stock:

~ Poppy Parade cardstock at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” then score at 4-1/4”.

~ 3 squares of Poppy Parade at 1-9/16” x 1-9/16”. (Connie Stewart at Simply Simple Stamping has an excellent tutorial on how to read a ruler).

~ Whisper White cardstock at 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”.

~ 3 squares of Whisper White cardstock into squares measuring 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2 inch.

~ Cut a strip of Designer Series Paper a 1″ x 4-1/8″. I used the Peaceful Poppies DSP (retired). There are wonderful new options in the current catalog.

~ Die cutting machine:

~ Run your Whisper White cardstock (4-1/8″ x 5-3/8 piece) through your die cutting machine using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. You could skip this step, although I do like a bit of texture to my cards.

~ Using your Layering Circles dies, cut a piece of Whisper White and Poppy Parade. If you do not have the dies, use the appropriate sized punch for your card.

~ Now to stamp!

~ Stamp images in Poppy Parade. I love that speckled pattern using the Old Olive ink at the base of the flowers. I colored in the stems and leaf using Old Olive ink and the flowers using the Dark and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. I think these colors added a nice, soft look.

~ Adhere everything together. Pop the flower images and sentiment up on dimensionals and add some bling.
