Hello and welcome to today’s throwback card. This was a fun one to make. My little granddaughter FaceTimed me this morning and while I helped her with math problems, she chose the colors and ornament layout for this card. I think she did a great job on color selection!
The Flowering Desert set is an old one (retired). I remember purchasing it around the time we made the move to sunny Arizona. The Little Treats Bundle is current and can be found in the August-December 2020 mini catalog (page 70). This bundle is so versatile! I have used it for Halloween, this card and will be using it for one of our daughter’s wedding this summer (fingers crossed we can safely gather then). I did some of the ornaments in the gold just to show you how detailed these dies are.
Let’s make this card:
Cutting:
Shaded Spruce cardstock @ 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score at 4-1/4″. This is your card base.
Cherry Cobbler cardstock @ 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″
Whisper White cardstock @ 5-1/4″ x 4″
Stamping:
Stamp the cactus using Shaded Spruce ink. For the flowers, I used Real Red. Now, from the Little Treats stamp set, grab the Santa hat and stamp in Real Red.
Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp your sentiment. The Little Treats stamp set had the perfect sentiment for this card.
Die Cutting:
The Little Treats dies have the best Santa hat and ornaments, so use those. I always like a bit of sparkle and gold. Just look at the details on those ornaments.
Extras:
If you have the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint (retired), complete your Santa hat. I held my hat with a pair of long tweezers. Those heat tools get HOT. If you do not have Puff Paint, it looks great without it.
I wrapped some red twine around my card. My granddaughter liked the ornaments at the base of the cactus.
Let’s complete this card:
Adhere all of the card pieces together and add the Santa hat popped up on dimensionals. Add some bling and this card is done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I sure had fun making it! Thank goodness for FaceTime since travel is a bit difficult during these times.
